CESMII – Upcoming Announcements
Innovation Project Status
In November we announced a total of $4.0M for the funding of Innovation Projects. Innovation Projects are designed to rapidly develop solutions to solve challenging manufacturing use cases, for processes and equipment, relevant to CESMII’s membership.
We had a total of 28 submissions and are currently working with the DOE on finalizing the selections, and we are expected to make an announcement around the second week of March.

NEW SM Innovation Center RFP Soon To Be Released
Please keep your eyes open for an imminent announcement about our request for proposals around Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centers (SMICs).
Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centers are one of several strategic initiatives to highlight the state-of-the-art in Smart Manufacturing’s impact on energy productivity, quality, throughput, costs/profitability, safety, and asset reliability, in manufacturing environments.

We’re Hiring!
Join the CESMII Smart Manufacturing Team and Help Us Change the World. Pass this opportunity to your friends and family. We have a very exciting opening for a Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center Director – working with CESMII academic and technology partners all around the country.

SM Innovation Platform Demo
See a demo of our Smart Manufacturing Innovation Platform and learn how to set up a data model, define the intent ( the type) of variables in your system and create a semantic graph of how your variables relate to each other. These are the keys to allowing applications to intelligently and programmatically discover your variables and automatically configure themselves (with your input), to deliver their value.

Keith Larson, Putman Media, Interview with John Dyck.
John Dyck provides a very informative 30 minute interview with Keith Larson of Putman Media, titled Industry 4.0 for all: The Democratization of Smart Manufacturing. It overs the history of CESMII, our mission, describes the challenges and presents our initiatives and ultimate solution to the problem.
A great item to pass along to friends.

CESMII Discussed at ARC Forum
ARC Advisory Group’s annual Industry Forums, typically held in Orlando, Florida, always provide an excellent opportunity for the industrial world to come together to network and share learnings. This year’s Forum, held in hyperspace, continued that tradition. CESMII was highlighted as an OPC Foundation partner, supporting the OPC UA Information Model and collaborating on the Cloud Library initiative.

Purdue University and CESMII
Purdue University’s Polytechnic Institute (Purdue Polytechnic) is receiving support from major technology companies for the college’s Smart Manufacturing program and facilities. Microsoft, Rockwell Automation, PTC, Endress+Hauser, Foundry Educational Foundation, International Society of Automation, and the US-DoE Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) are collaborating to support faculty and staff of the Polytechnic as they transform learning to prepare the next generation of graduates specializing in 21st-century manufacturing technologies.

Upcoming Public Events
CESMII is now listing upcoming events in two locations, our Website, but more importantly for audience acquisition, our LinkedIn company page.
This is where you can help us spread our messages, for the benefit of your connections. Events that we take part in are important for the Smart Manufacturing Ecosystem, and you’ll want to let your Connections know about them. Please Share…

Lloyd Colegrove
After more than 29 years in the chemical industry, Colegrove retired from Dow Chemical in June of 2020. Lloyd spent the majority of his career in Dow’s Manufacturing and Engineering function where he created and led a variety of organizations designed to improve the performance of manufacturing assets within the function. Aspects of this work included the creation of a structured Fundamental Problem Solving capability, and subsequently led to a focus on improving data usage and integration into improved decision making within the operations, where real-time data usage “potential” greatly outweighed “realization”. He is consulting in three areas: 1. Helping companies struggling with getting an analytics program going. 2. Helping small analytics firms to understand how they can become more relevant in chemical manufacture. 3. Fronting for deserving analytics companies as they seek greater attention in a crowded and confusing marketplace. We look forward to his collaboration with CESMII.

Dirty Water Solutions (DWS) takes contaminated water and recycles it so that it can be either released into the environment or reused depending on the application of the customer. One of the largest segments we are currently working with is the waste industry filtering landfill leachate water. We clean it to such a standard it can be discharged. This means we clean it to almost drinking water standards depending on the environmental agency we are dealing with.
DWS is not limited to just leachate water, and we have the ability to clean all types of contamination out of water. www.dirtywatersolutions.com
