Roadmap Projects deliver significant value for the entire CESMII ecosystem and are a constant focal point for our institute.
PLATFORM CAPABILITY PROJECTS
Three (3) Platform Capability Project proposals (submitted in response to the RFP2 – Wave 3 open solicitation) have been selected for negotiations. Platform Capability Projects develop core technology capabilities and tools in support of CESMII’s SM Platform strategic pillar.
The teams selected for negotiation are listed here.
Three (3) Application Project proposals have moved to the Contracting Phase. Application Projects demonstrate the capabilities of the SM Innovation Platform through real-world use cases. Project teams leverage the CESMII technology infrastructure and provide all cost share.
The teams currently finalizing contracts are listed here.
Rafter Equipment Corporation is one of North America’s oldest metal forming machinery manufacturers. Founded in 1917, the original Rafter Machine Company was in Belleville, New Jersey. Today, Rafter remains as one of the last tube mill manufacturers to make their equipment exclusively in the USA. Their goal is to cater to the customer by offering high-efficiency, high-production equipment with a personalized, high-level of service not found with other domestic and foreign equipment manufacturers.
Toward Zero aligns process, technology, culture, and corporate objectives with a goal to drive waste toward zero. Their comprehensive, data-driven solutions result in increased profitability, improved plant operations and better decision-making. They increase visibility and predictability so management can make great decisions, reduce costs by eliminating process and technology inefficiencies at the plant, and utilize people and machines better to improve on-time deliveries and product quality.”
Xemelgo delivers smart manufacturing solutions that provide complete visibility into industrial operations. Real-time monitoring and intelligent alerts eliminate costly disruptions like inventory shortages, production bottlenecks, misplaced assets, and incomplete orders. X-track solutions are accessed through simple, mobile-first applications. They combine with plug-and-play IoT sensors to deploy in just hours and deliver immediate value.
ShelfAware is a Saas inventory management system designed for B2B supply chains. ShelfAware started inside the manufacturing industry and currently tracksthousands of inventory sku’s for many USA manufacturing companies. They use the consumption data to turn inventories into lean, efficient assets for manufacturers.
Member Value – In Their Own Words
“Our engagement with CESMII is delivering value on many fronts, exposing us to the right technologies and techniques, but most importantly, letting us engage with a community of forward-looking manufacturers and technology providers that we would never have found otherwise.”
In this episode, we’ll discuss how several projects around the Connected Worker are helping Honeywell achieve safer and more productive workplaces for first line workers especially in response to COVID-19 challenges.
Modeling and Optimizing Energy Use in Smart Manufacturing
We discuss how a Factory 4.0 course is teaching students to model energy as an input variable that can be modeled along with other output variables to study tradeoffs between cost, cycle time and quality of the end-product.
If you have been implementing initiatives related to the Connected Workforce, please let us know. We want to showcase how manufacturers are implementing solutions to make the workforce more connected in these times of physical distancing.
While the CESMII ecosystem lives manufacturing and takes it seriously every day, we’re proud to support national Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 2, 2020.
Manufacturing Day is “an opportunity for manufacturers to highlight their work and their workers and to energize a future pipeline of skilled workers” and “an occasion during which manufacturers open their doors to showcase the potential of modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers.”
CESMII is proud to partner with SME to make their Smart Manufacturing Experience (SMX) event as powerful as possible. SMX is an immersive, online experience designed to provide you with tools and resources to elevate your understanding of smart technologies, learn the benefits of implementation and collaborate with experts and early adopters.
We’ve recently relaunched several of our Affinity Groups, and the engagement of our members in these is an important part of the CESMII ecosystem. If you’d like more information on how to participate, please reach out to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
