Update on the CESMII Roadmap Selection Process for the 2017 CESMII Request for Proposals (RFP)
CESMII received 41 proposals on January 31, 2018 in response to the 2017 CESMII RFP issued in early December 2017. The proposals were distributed and evaluated by an Evaluation Board composed of Subject Matter Experts from Industry, Academia, and Government Agencies. The external reviews were completed in early March and Consensus Meetings were conducted over a ten day period with Evaluation Board Members to ensure consistency in the evaluations and to aide in the compilation of proposal scorings. In keeping with the CESMII Project Selection Plan, an internal CESMII review was performed to develop a portfolio of projects to be selected.
This portfolio was finalized, approved by CESMII Leadership and submitted to the CESMII Governance Board for review and approval. On April 6, 2018, the CESMII Governance Board approved CESMII’s project portfolio selections. On April 13, 2018 this portfolio was submitted to DOE for their evaluation and approval.
We will continue to provide updated information as soon as it is available.
The RMCs do not have any indication about which projects have been selected, nor can CESMII state a definitive date. We will, however, provide one as soon as we have DOE approval.
If your project is selected, you will need to develop and negotiate a formal contract with a detailed Technical Plan, Statement of Project Objectives (SOPO), Milestones, and Go/No-Go decision points. We will provide you with more detailed information at that time.
We appreciate your support and patience.

The Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) plans to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Research and Development (R&D) programs. The total available CESMII funding will be approximately $10.5 Million with a 30% awardee cost-share requirement. CESMII plans to award projects in the following Areas of Interest (AOI) in 2018. These AOI's were carefully identified by the CESMII Roadmap. The budgets set forth are targets and may be revised on based on actual proposals submitted in order to construct an optimized portfolio of projects. Proposals that do not fall in the AOI's set forth will not be assessed by CESMII or be eligible for CESMII funding in 2018.
