CESMII is the home of Smart Manufacturing technologies and techniques and as such, offers a focus on Smart Manufacturing Education.  This education will take many forms, from SM Overview Webinars on a wide variety of topics, to CESMII sponsored training and Endorsed third-party training.  Third-party training is managed completely by CESMII Partners, however these courses have been reviewed and meet the CESMII Endorsed Training Logo Guidelines.

Course Type:                     On-demand self-paced

Time Commitment:        Approximately 12 hours. 6-week maximum time to complete the course. 1 meeting with instructor required

Skills Taught:

This course covers the Smart Manufacturing definition, characteristics and principles. An overview of the Industrial Internet of things software stack and a specific focus on the MQTT protocol. The course also demonstrates a hands-on-guided activity on implementing MQTT with Node-Red and MQTT with Python using the Python library – Paho-Mqtt library.

Prerequisites, Target Students/Occupations:

This course has no prerequisites and does not require you to have programming skills in Python. For those who do not have programming experience, the videos can help serve you to understand what happens behinds the scenes in commercial solutions.
