CESMII 2020: A LOOK BACK
A message from John Dyck, CESMII CEO:
As 2020 draws to a close, I can’t help but reflect on the many unexpected complications and obstacles many have faced this year. Some in this manufacturing environment have struggled – seeing demand plummet and costs rise. Others had to react quickly to an extraordinary surge in demand and the issues that represents. Many have seen their workforce impacted in new and unprecedented ways, and for almost everyone, uncertainty and volatility have become familiar companions.

Despite all of this, it’s become clear that US manufacturing rose to these challenges in ways that are as inspirational as they are diverse! It’s been an immense privilege to see the innovation and creativity of this ecosystem, as we recognized different challenges, and worked together to overcome them!

I’m grateful to you, our CESMII membership for your support in 2020. Together, we’ve invested in the ideas, technology and knowledge that will have a dramatic impact on our manufacturing competitiveness here in the US. I’m delighted to say that our membership has almost doubled this year, and so many of you have contributed your valuable time and resources to our efforts here – because you believe in our mission to ‘Accelerate the Democratization of Smart Manufacturing!’

This is what gives me the confidence that we can truly overcome the challenges before us; that we will emerge from this unique period in our history stronger and equipped to innovate in ways that scale, and that each innovation contributes to a rapidly growing marketplace of capabilities that can be accessed and reused by many others.

We here at CESMII wish you and your loved ones Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year! We’re looking forward to an exciting 2021, and seeing many more of your exciting Smart Manufacturing innovations become a reality!

Sincerely, John
