Smart Manufacturing Mindset™:

Think Differently About Continuous Improvement

This month the CESMII & SME LinkedIn Live series, Smart Manufacturing Mindset™

we focused on Continuous Improvement. Join us as we dig into the age-old principles and practices of Continuous Improvement looking through the lens of modern, Smart Manufacturing thinking. Do Smart Manufacturing and CI belong together? Can they coexist? Or, conversely, can one truly exist without the other?

In this next installment of our Smart Manufacturing Mindset LinkedIn Live series, we’ll unpack the role of Smart Manufacturing practices and technologies in underpinning the core tenants of Lean, 6-Sigma, and Digital Manufacturing. We’ll explore how data-driven strategies are transforming manufacturing by enhancing the essential role of people in driving progress, and offer invaluable insights into striking the necessary balance between harnessing data and empowering your workforce to drive constant improvement.

We are excited to share what we believe is one of the major inflection points to drive Smart Manufacturing system adoption for the automotive industry (and beyond)!

In 2022, CESMII was hired by USCAR (GM, Ford and Stellantis) to work together on a pre-competitive strategy that would benefit the broader automotive industry with the creation of a next-gen Smart Manufacturing Roadmap for the automotive industry.

As an outcome of this process, last week, the senior executives from each of these three automakers joined us, along with over 150 leaders from the automotive industry (tier suppliers, machine builders, system integrators, software and hardware suppliers and consultants) for a private preview of this new Smart Manufacturing Roadmap. The vision and the roadmap were enthusiastically received, with a clear call to action for each of the stakeholder groups.

We look forward to the public launch of this important industry Roadmap at our Annual Member Meeting at SOUTHTEC – October 24-26 in Greenville, SC.

Information Modeling Boosts Productivity for Electronics Manufacturers

The plug-and-play nature of the Ectron Smart EYETM implementation puts automation, Factory 4.0, and the IIoT within the reach of small manufacturers who don’t have IT and engineering teams.

Small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) will be able to access and implement technologies that were previously only available to large manufacturing enterprises. Since small and medium-sized manufacturers comprise 98% of America’s industrial manufacturing base, technologies available to SMMs will greatly benefit the nation as a whole.
