Knowledge Bar Presentations

The CESMII team has offered additional information on the technology, education, and ecosystem offerings available through CESMII. You can access the presentations below for more details.

How CESMII's Project Portfolio is Impacting the Industry

CESMII has a strong, diverse portfolio of nearly 60 projects that helped the institute accomplish its mission. We presented an overview of the portfolio, different types of projects, and how they impacted the industry through Smart Manufacturing technology and education.

Impacting Energy Intensive Industries through Smart Manufacturing Productivity

SM demonstrated tremendous potential for impacting energy productivity in energy-intensive industries across the US. CESMII was charged with demonstrating this impact through R&D and demonstration projects. We shared examples of how we accomplished this in the cement, steel, paper, chemical, and food industries.

Enhancing SMMs' Productivity, Efficiency, and Quality through SM

Small and Medium Manufacturers make up an overwhelmingly large majority of US manufacturers. Ensuring that all are equipped to begin their journey into SM is key to increasing US Competitiveness, including supply chains. Explore CESMII’s approach to address the needs of SMMs’ using low-complexity SM technologies.

Workforce Skills Drive Smart Manufacturing

Learn about several initiatives that manufacturers can embrace for their workforce including upskilling and training on new Smart Manufacturing micro-credentials. Leverage the tools that CESMII, the Smart Manufacturing Institute, is making available with technical trainers, community colleges, and ecosystem partners including ToolingU, Amatrol, and SACA.

SM Innovation Platform & Marketplace: Past, Present and Future

The SM Innovation Platform has been fundamental to bringing CESMII’s SM Architecture to Industry and enabling Smart Manufacturing adoption among SMMS. It has evolved from the Core Platform to an entire architecture of Edge, Core and App technologies, including external tools and standards. The SM Marketplace compliments the platform by showcasing CESMII Member Applications and SM Profiles.

Impacting Regional Ecosystems through CESMII's National Network of SM Innovation Centers

CESMII’s Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centers (SMICs) are centers of excellence throughout the U.S. that focus on building industry-specific Smart Manufacturing ecosystems. They enable access to small, medium, and large businesses, connecting manufacturing assets to our SM Innovation platform, national policy development, industry awareness, and workforce development.

Smart Manufacturing goes way beyond being just a buzzword. It’s a movement and mindset taking the industry by storm. But what does it really mean, what are the key benefits and how can manufacturing leaders get started today?

Manufacturing Happy Hour host Chris Luecke asked industry experts these questions live at the Smart Manufacturing Experience at SOUTHTEC. In two special bonus episodes, 14 manufacturing leaders shared their own definitions of Smart Manufacturing, the secrets behind the successful digital transformations they’ve overseen and the best ways to adopt a Smart Manufacturing mindset and what makes a great SM leader.

Manufacturing USA consists of a national network of seventeen linked manufacturing institutes. Each has a unique technological concentration, but is also designed to accelerate U.S. advanced manufacturing as a whole.

Manufacturing USA brings together industry, academia and federal partners within a growing network of advanced manufacturing institutes to increase U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and promote a robust and sustainable national manufacturing R&D infrastructure.

CESMII is a proud member of Manufacturing USA.
