Data Standards: Boosting Interoperability, Security, Scale

The promise of smart manufacturing is undeniable—improved quality, reduced costs, and greater efficiency. But the journey to achieving these benefits often faces hurdles when it comes to accessing, standardizing, and contextualizing operational technology (OT) data.

In the latest episode of the Edge of Industry podcast, CESMII’s CEO, John Dyck, joins PTC’s Ted Kerkam to discuss how data standards can address these challenges. Learn how CESMII is driving innovation in smart manufacturing by combining human-centered best practices with cutting-edge digital tools, OT data standards, and seamless industrial connectivity.

💡 What you’ll learn:

  • The importance of OT data standards in smart manufacturing
  • How OT data standards enhance interoperability, scalability, and security
  • Real-world advice for implementing these standards and driving digital transformation

Join the conversation and discover how manufacturers can unlock the frictionless flow of real-time data to create value across their operations.

Improved Vacuum Arc Remelting Processing

Process Modeling Validates Methods for Reducing Turbine Parts Manufacturing Energy Consumption by 30%

Project Objective: Develop a simulation/testing framework to determine the feasibility of using ultrasound to mitigate Dirty White Spots (DWS) in the Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) process. If it can be shown that this method effectively reduces the frequency of DWSs, turbine parts can be double melted as opposed to requiring triple melting.

⬇30%

Smart Manufacturing yields a 30% reduction in energy consumption for turbine part remelting.

⬇264GWh

US turbofan parts manufacturers will save 2,64GWh annually by applying smart remelting techniques.
