Smart Manufacturing Mindset™:

Bridging OT & IT in College Industrial Labs

Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 are driving the digital transformation of industrial processes. This digital transformation enables enhanced productivity, real-time data and analytics, flexibility and customization, optimized supply networks, energy efficiency and sustainability, and improved workforce development. Barriers to the realization of these goals include the legacy of lacking integration of automation operational technology (OT) and enterprise information technology (IT).

Academic organizations have a key role to play in realizing the SM vision. Not only in the research and development of technology but also in the education of the workforce in digital technologies and techniques for manufacturing. However, academic organizations are experiencing similar challenges for integrating OT and IT networks and systems that have traditionally been managed and operated separately.

In this webcast, we explore how academic organizations have tackled these challenges to teach SM skills and what similar organizations and manufacturers can learn from their experience.

$63 Million Announced to Expand Battery Recycling & Boost Smart Manufacturing

Batteries are and will continue to be a critical piece of the transition to a #cleanenergy economy.

DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) is increasing collaboration between states and small and medium-sized #manufacturers across the country with $63 million in funding made available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. We’re working in partnership with states and local governments to increase #batteryrecycling and to make smart manufacturing technologies, like advanced sensors and modeling, more accessible to small- and medium-manufacturers. This funding opportunity–which closes in less than two weeks–will boost domestic #manufacturing, increase participation in battery recycling, and bolster critical material #supplychains.  CESMII will be supporting the smart manufacturing awardees under this program.

Only a few weeks left to apply for this great funding opportunity for states to expand #smartmanufacturing support to their small and medium-sized #manufacturers, and state/local governments to create/expand #batteryrecycling programs!

We are so thrilled that CESMII on board as a key Program partner to maximize DOE’s and the selected state-programs’ efforts to increase access to smart manufacturing technologies for #SMMs across the country!
