An Ecosystem of Professionals Ready to Support Your Smart Manufacturing Initiative

Most manufacturers are planning or undergoing a digital transformation to improve productivity, incorporate new technologies in their products and production processes, comply with new regulatory requirements, and remain competitive in the global marketplace. Manufacturers are upgrading the way they perform and manage production and are even rethinking their business models and supply chains—all of which are elevating the bar for manufacturing operational excellence. However, the manufacturer’s internal team is being challenged. Manufacturers have consistently listed the lack of skilled talent as a top constraint to advancing their Smart Manufacturing initiatives. CESMII is working with the network of educators and trainers to help manufacturers increase the skills in their workforce, but manufacturers should also consider using external resources to support their internal team with specialized skills. CESMII is helping grow and train the network of professionals ready to support manufacturers with tasks like establishing a technology-enabled strategic roadmap, implementing technology initiatives that support the business strategy, and developing a Smart Manufacturing infrastructure. A SM systems infrastructure that is flexible, scalable, secure, and able to keep up with changes as the business and technology landscape continues to evolve. A SM systems infrastructure that allows the business to take advantage of new technologies like IIoT, information platforms, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, robotics, and supply chain connectivity solutions.

The combination of internal and external resources allows a manufacturer to move faster while they are enhancing the skills of their internal team. A combined approach can provide the most flexibility to meet business objectives in a timely manner, compensate for temporary internal limitations, and take advantage of the strengths of external resources. A proven way to accelerate the Smart Manufacturing journey is to align the business and technology strategies with a clear plan of action. CESMII’s Smart Manufacturing Acceleration Roadmap Framework and network of certified professionals can address the challenge with this comprehensive blueprint to guide innovators through assessing their organization’s current state, identifying challenges and opportunities, and establishing a strategic roadmap specifically tailored to achieve the business goals. The approach guides the manufacturer’s internal team to review six areas of business practices (strategy, culture, processes, systems, workforce, and supply chain), align the team, and establish specific programs to achieve their desired future state and practices. Manufacturers with a strong ecosystem of collaborative partners will be better prepared to overcome future challenges by leveraging the specialized expertise of external resources while their internal team maintains the strategic business direction and coordinates execution of the initiatives.

Smart Manufacturing Acceleration Roadmap Certification Course

This eight-week, online certification course is designed to educate consultants, advisors and innovation champions working with manufacturers on the CESMII Smart Manufacturing Acceleration Roadmap Framework, equip them the supporting toolkit, and prepare them to take the certification exam to become a certified Smart Manufacturing Roadmap Professional. Supported by an expert mentor, you’ll engage with hands-on projects to assess sample organization’s current and desired future states along six critical areas of world-class manufacturers.

By successfully completing the course projects, deliverables, and accompanying certification test, you will develop knowledge and capabilities to ensure your future client engagements are successful and your work is consistent with SM principles and the SM roadmap process developed by CESMII. Upon passing the certification test, you will receive a certificate from CESMII that designates you as a Smart Manufacturing Roadmap Professional.

Upon successful completion of this course and certification test, participants will be able to demonstrate competency across the following learning areas. Learning goals and competencies for each module are located in the digital classroom.

Roadmap

A strategic (not tactical) roadmap is created in which business objectives are identified and the corresponding improvement areas and initiatives are articulated. A process is used to create the roadmap.
