SUMMARY:The Role of Manufacturing in Industrial Decarbonization
DESCRIPTION:As the United States embarks on a path towards net-zero carbon emissions\, understanding how to decarbonize the industrial sector will be critical. The 2021 National Academies’ report Accelerating Decarbonization of the U.S. Energy System outlines critical near-term policies needed for the decarbonization effort. Among many other things\, this report recommends that Congress provide manufacturing incentives to firms through various policy tools and create a new Assistant Secretary for Carbon Smart Manufacturing and Industry within the Department of Energy.  \nAs part of information gathering for the study’s second report\, the National Academies’ Committee on Accelerating Decarbonization in the United States: Technology\, Policy\, and Societal Dimensions will host a panel discussion with representatives from DOE’s Advanced Manufacturing Office and several USA Manufacturing Institutes to explore their roles in accelerating energy and GHG emissions reductions in the industrial sector. The event aims to provide information to the committee on opportunities\, paths\, and near-term actions for industrial decarbonization.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Panel Speaker\n \n \n \n \n \n John Dyck\, CEOCESMII – The Smart Manufacturing Institute

SUMMARY:Smart Manufacturing for Automotive: Enhancing Manufacturing Process and Performance Through Industry 4.0
DESCRIPTION:As customer demands continue to evolve\, it is critical that automotive OEMs design and manufacture smarter vehicles to remain competitive. Tomorrow’s vehicles are increasing in complexity\, with more parts and technology being integrated than ever before. New approaches are required\, with many automotive manufacturers relying on Industry 4.0 technologies to achieve mass customization\, whilst continuing to increase capacity\, reduce costs\, and maintain safety. \nAlthough implementing smart technologies will produce the desired ROI\, understanding how to achieve value at scale while avoiding disruption to production and supply is complex\, and requires a deep understanding of the technology\, data\, and manufacturing operations. \nThe Smart Manufacturing for Automotive Summit will provide you with the necessary tools to define a strategic roadmap that will enable you to build smarter vehicles and keep up with the accelerated pace and changing demands of consumers \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n CESMII Delegates can use CESMII20 for 20% off

SUMMARY:Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS)
DESCRIPTION:The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) is the world’s first cross-industrial and crossfunctional platform that offers a voice and venue for leaders to transform manufacturing and utilise technology as a tool for global cooperation and collaboration to encourage greater investment in capabilities\, foster innovation and drive global skills development. Co-chaired by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the United Arab Emirates\, GMIS unites influential delegates from the global manufacturing and technology communities\, including leaders from governments\, expert industry CEOs and specialist researchers and academics to discuss\, debate and shape the future of the manufacturing sector and place manufacturing at the heart of economic regeneration and government policymaking. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Panelist\n \n \n \n \n \n John Dyck\, CEO\, CESMII \nSession: Innovation in disruption: The IIoT paradigmAs many organisations continue to grapple with implementing IoT for asset maintenance and tracking\, pioneers in the manufacturing industry and solution providers are implementing IoT to create disruptive business models. \nThe commercialisation of IoT and the widespread adoption of IIoT is enabling companies to develop business models that simultaneously improve the customer experience\, enable efficiency and enhance sustainability. IoT is driving the ‘as-a-service’ revolution – service providers are realising the benefits of subscription service models using products and machines that have built in sensors\, so that the owner can track the life of the product and conduct repairs and maintenance when necessary\, allowing the manufacturer to focus on optimising efficiency of supply chains and implement differentiators such as personalisation. \nThis session will discuss how data derived from IIoT and edge sensor technology can be leveraged to create disruptive business models that enable circularity.
