SUMMARY:Options for a National Smart Manufacturing Plan
DESCRIPTION:New technologies are rapidly revolutionizing smart manufacturing with implications for industry\, government\, and the American workforce. Join the National Academies for a series of three workshops to study the state of the art in smart manufacturing technology; workforce\, education and training needs; and the broader impacts for the U.S. economy and national competitiveness. This is a study informed by but intended to consider SM beyond the charters of the Manufacturing USA Institutes. During these workshops\, participants will explore a wide range of impacts that smart manufacturing could have on industry\, the U.S. economy\, and the environment. You are invited to register and attend the workshops virtually or in person and/or provide comments to the study. \nWorkshop #3: Broader Impacts of Smart Manufacturing \n\n \n Learn more & Attend\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Submit Comments\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Download Flier

SUMMARY:Machine Design Engineering Academy Event
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nThe manufacturing silos are being demolished. They are replaced with an interconnected\, interdependent\, and digitally connected operation. Its success will rely in part in developing systems that provide not just functional processes but are designed to deliver actionable data to the operations and maintenance teams. And that must be designed in from the start. \nMachine Design will look at the opportunities\, challenges and strategies around the idea of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA). We will talk to the nation’s leaders in developing these initiatives and talk to those manufacturers who already make DFMA profitable and productive. \nCESMII Participation\nStarting From Scratch with Smart Manufacturing\, Conrad Leiva\, Vice President\, Ecosystem & Workforce \nA recent Machine Design survey found that less than 25% of manufacturers currently are implementing a smart manufacturing strategy. Those who start today on the smart manufacturing journey will achieve a competitive advantage and will achieve cost\, safety and productivity gains. \nThe big question remains: Where do I start? An expert from CESMII\, the public/private national consortium dedicated to helping manufacturers take the digital transformation journey\, will discuss the way to start small and gain incremental improvements while laying the groundwork for a deeper digital transformation. \nLearn More
