SUMMARY:GPDIS Workshop 2026
DESCRIPTION:2:40–3:10 PM | Workshop Keynote\nJoin John Dyck for a keynote presentation on CESMII’s Industrial Information Interoperability eXchange (i3X). \nGPDIS Workshop Theme: Grounding the Intelligence\nAI and Standards Interoperability Flagship Workshop \nThis is a highly interactive\, full‑day workshop where cross‑functional teams work through four structured work packages: \n\nTrusted Collaboration – Securing the digital thread with zero‑trust principles and object‑level data sovereignty.\nDigital Product Exchange – Using proven syntactic standards (STEP/AP242\, SSP\, DDP\, etc.) as AI guardrails.\nMeaning Exchange – Establishing a semantic thread and shared ontologies so AI can understand engineering context.\nAgentic Collaboration – Exploring agentic architectures\, MCP\, and defining the red line between AI autonomy and human authority.\n\nAcross these work packages\, participants will see how industry‑proven data and semantic standards become the foundation and guardrails for AI\, turning it from a black‑box risk into a trustworthy\, engineering‑grade capability for product development\, manufacturing\, and lifecycle management. \nThe workshop is designed for both technical and non‑technical leaders\, and focuses on ensuring AI initiatives are innovative\, interoperable\, and grounded in engineering truth and operational excellence.

SUMMARY:Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing Systems
DESCRIPTION:Join CESMII CEO John Dyck as he discusses the Strategic Imperative and Impact of Manufacturing Data Foundations: Enabling Interoperability\, AI\, and Industrial Competitiveness. \nMore details to come! \nAbout the Event: \nArtificial intelligence is moving out of pilot projects and into production environments across the manufacturing enterprise. Whether it holds at scale depends on the infrastructure underneath it: shared terminology\, data that transfers between systems\, methods for measuring model performance\, and criteria for validating AI behavior when safety and quality are at stake. Those are standards questions\, and most of them are still open. \nThe second AI in Manufacturing Systems Workshop examines where AI is being deployed on the factory floor today and which consensus standards must exist for that deployment to be reliable\, interoperable\, and trusted. The program is vendor-neutral. Sessions address data interoperability and reference architectures\, performance metrics and benchmarking\, data quality and model standards\, safety and cybersecurity\, system integration\, human-AI teaming\, AI-driven quality and predictive maintenance\, and governance and trustworthiness\, with a sector spotlight that examines one production environment in depth. \nThe workshop follows the inaugural edition\, held June 3\, 2026 in Dallas immediately before the founding meeting of Committee F50. In the months since\, F50 has organized into an executive subcommittee and four working subcommittees — Terminology\, Data\, Critical Requirements\, and Planning — and has set its first standards priorities. This edition reports on that work\, tests it against current industry practice\, and opens it to the wider community for input. \nA full agenda with confirmed speakers and session titles will be published by the end of August. SUMMARY:AIST - Digital Transformation Forum for the Steel Industry
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Digital Transformation Forum for the Steel Industry is a leading platform for steel producers\, technology experts and innovators to engage in the ongoing evolution of digitalization across the steel industry. Building on the momentum of previous forums\, the program shifts focus to the practical realities of artificial intelligence (AI): how it’s being used today in the steel industry\, and what’s truly required to make it deliver value. \nThe 2026 program will center on generative AI as a transformative technology\, with a focus on how it’s being applied to plant challenges like safety\, predictive maintenance and process innovation. The forum will explore the conditions needed for success — from data readiness and quality to effective integration strategies — through case studies\, panel discussions\, and technical papers. The program will give attendees a candid and collaborative look at how generative AI is reshaping steel — across operations\, supervision and process automation. \nThis forum is designed for decision-makers\, technical leaders\, and digital transformation experts seeking actionable insights into launching\, scaling\, and sustaining digital transformation initiatives within their organizations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Workshop: Diving Deeper into Lean and Smart Manufacturing
DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Diving Deeper into Lean and Smart Manufacturing | Tuesday\, October 27 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM Central Time (US & Canada) \nSpeakers: Conrad Leiva\, VP of Ecosystem and Workforce Development at CESMII\, Tim Stuart\, President at Visual Decisions\, Inc \nLean manufacturing principles have played a significant role in driving efficiency across organizations through their emphasis on cost reduction\, waste elimination\, and THE customer. These principles have driven continuous improvement initiatives for many manufacturers. Today we see a wave of Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing technologies being implemented by leading manufacturers. Does that mean that Lean principles are no longer needed? The opposite is true. \nThe intersection of Lean and Digital has been coined “Digital Lean” and we will discuss examples of how this powerful combination of timeless lean principles and the latest digital technologies is reducing waste and variability in manufacturing processes. Digital lean isn’t a separate set of lean principles but a powerful enhancement of existing methodologies. Leveraging Smart Manufacturing technologies\, Digital Lean techniques deliver precise\, timely\, and detailed operational insights\, elevating the application of lean principles.
